Selling on eBay can be a little confusing your first time out. The key to selling on eBay is to stay focused on what works. There are so many distractions to the first time seller but if you stay focused on the fundamentals you will do well.

First Signup on eBay: In order to sell products on eBay you must first signup. This is an easy process and only takes a few minutes. Once you finish signing up you need to read the eBay selling tutorials. Just skim over this material and don’t get lost in the details.

Second – Figure out what to sell on eBay: I always recommend you sell something from around your house the first time you sell on eBay. Find something that you don’t want but someone else might find valuable. Make sure it is working order and not just a pile of junk. The purpose of this step is to list your first item and hopefully sell it. This will give you an idea of what is involved in selling products on eBay. Most of your time will be consumed when creating the listing. I suggest keeping the listing simple and adding only one picture. Don’t spend any more than you have to when listing your first item. Also set a reasonable price because you want to sell the item. After you sell the item you will need to contact the buyer and arrange for shipping the item and collecting the money. I use PayPal to collect the purchase price. Make sure you receive feedback from the buyer and leave feedback for the buyer.

Third – Find reliable wholesale sources of product :Now that you have your feet wet you need to get your selling machine going. You will need a good supplier of product if you want to become a Power Seller on eBay. I use several suppliers and I also use drop shippers. The beauty of using drop shipping companies is that you do not have to buy the product before you sell it. The other good point is that the drop shipping companies will ship the product for you. This will save you a tremendous amount of time. Some of the better drop ship companies offer pre-made eBay listings. All you have to do is copy and paste the listing. This again will save you a tremendous amount of time. As a seller you want to focus your time on answering customer questions and selling products. Not having to worry about the actual listing copy and shipping the product will save you valuable time.

When looking for a reliable wholesale source, don’t rely on what their webpage is saying but look for what other eBay sellers or online marketers are saying. There are many online communities that rate various wholesale suppliers. Get involved in a community and read as much about various wholesalers as you can. The fact is, if a wholesaler is not reliable then someone will speak out against them.

Make sure that you look for a company that has a good return policy. I have ordered many wholesale products only to find that the product did live up to the description. Make sure you can return the products for a full refund.

Make sure the wholesale company has a phone number in which you can call for support. It is amazing how many large companies don’t have live support. When your business starts getting bigger you will want live support from your wholesalers so make sure you can get it upfront.

These are just a few tips on where to get product to sell on eBay and some things to look for when selecting a wholesaler. Be careful when looking for wholesalers on the internet, there are a lot of scammers in this world.
