What is the Definition of Sexual Assault? Sexual assault is any physical contact of sexual nature without voluntary consent. Sexual assault can take place by anyone and anywhere. While associated with rape, sexual asssault is much broader and the specifics may vary according to social,political or legal definition. With that being said I could go on for 100 pages on what sexual assault is about but I really want to give you information on how to protect yourself for a sexual assault. Guildline to Prevent Sexual Assaults Follow the three A Aware, Alert, and Assertive when you are in your every day life 1. Be Aware of your surroundings 2.Stay Alert to what is around you. ( A van that is parked next to your car) 3.Assertive- Speak loud and assertive when you feel you are in danger Women are the main targets. Sad to say the just being a women today is what makes you a target for a sexual assault. Yes it does happen to men but the odds are greater for women. In todays world everyone has an opinon on what is proper for us to ware. If you think of it as would my grandmother approve of this outfit, would be a great guide line for you. I know you feel good in the outfit but you may be causing yourself harm by having your chest exposed. Or your thong hanging out of your jeans. You may think you look great but you are now one step closer to being the victim of an attack. Its not what I think it the way it is. Prevent a Sexual Assault *The Attacker looks for someone who is vulnerable. If you are going to a big city like NY every New Yorker knows walk like you know where your going even if you don't. The attacker knows you they are well trained to see you a mile away. *When you are shopping I know that you have bags on your arm and your running late for dinner with friends, your rushing to get to the car and not aware of your surroundings. Stop and think take an extra 5 min to look around. Your friends will not eat without you. *When you get to your car just get in and lock the door. You can call your friends after you pull out of the parking space but don't sit their move. *When someone pulls over and say hey how can I get to the public libary. Do Not go over to the car keep your distance its happend many times where they just pull you into the car and you never stand a chance of getting away. *Think about self protection to carry with you. A pepper spray or a personal alarm would give you time to get away if needed. They now have unique pepper sprays so no one will know that the ring you have on your finger is really a pepper spray, or the lipstick, pen is really your own personal protection. Make sure that you know how to use it if needed. Do not wait for something to happen to see if it works. * Get in the mind set that you refuse to become a victim. You know the old saying - I don't know where I got the strenth from. Fight for what is yours you can do it and will if you know you can. You can become a victim at any time. Take time to review this artical and be aware of your surroundings at all times. Know that if you ever feel unsafe you have the power to change that.Be confident that it is not your fault and fight back. Before you become a victim. Invest in a pepper spray, and know how to use it. Look into self defence classes. Their are many ways to protect yourself but you need to know you can do it.
