If you are not as fast as Allen Iverson, or as dominating as Shaq, or as sweet-shooting as Ray Allen, do you think you can make it to the NBA? Although many of us are wishing that we will one day play for the Lakers, or Juventus, or Red Sox, or the Red Wings, it will remain a dream as we are not all destined to be superstars. If it is you're dream to become a boxer or a mixed martial arts fighter, the road to stardom is long and once you get there, the only way is down. We may not be able to become what we always dreamed of in sports, but there's one way we can win at it.
Considered as the sport that will wipe away boxing from its popularity, MMA has been churning out with pay per views that has captivated audiences worldwide. And when it comes to mixed martial arts, no one can dispute the popularity of the Ultimate Fighting Championship or the UFC. What started out as a small event with fighters dueling it out in the octagon with a few minutes break before facing another competitor is now a large promotion that rivals Top Rank and Golden Boy Promotion and has several weight divisions just like boxing does.

The latest installment of the Ultimate Fighting Championship is the UFC77 Hostile Territory. The said event is slated to be held at the U.S. Bank Arena in Cincinnati, Ohio on October 20, Sunday. Said event will be headlined by a rematch between former middleweight champion Rich "Ace" Franklin and Anderson "The Spider" Silva.

Surprisingly, even with an impressive 24-2 MMA record and fighting in his home turf, the Ace is still considered as the underdog at the upcoming fight. UFC odds list Franklin as the +170 underdog. In the world of mixed martial arts, bookmakers have yet to consistently predict a winner. There have been a lot of upset in UFC's recent fights. The most recent is the defeat of the former light heavyweight champion Chuck "The Iceman" Liddell. The Iceman was defeated by Keith Jardine at UFC 77.

The well-rounded fighter in Franklin though will be aiming to avenge his loss to Silva and in the process, make oddsmaker look foolish. Franklin bowed down to Silva in their last fight last October 14, 2006. The Brazilian middleweight champion will be heading to the fight as the betting favorite of -210. Just like Franklin, Silva is also a well-rounded fighter who can take it to the mat with the best in the business and at the same time have the power to knock out his opponent's teeth.

Another exciting card that fight fans are looking forward to is the showdown between the former UFC heavyweight champion Tim Sylvia who is looking to find his way back to the top and Brandon Vera who is looking to make a big mark in the sport. The young Filipino-American fighter has a respectable 8-0 record in MMA and that made oddsmaker look at Vera's way as the favorite in this fight. He will be going into this fight as a -155 favorite. This fight may be the turning point for the young fighter as he will be taking on a very experienced fighter in Sylvia.

Sylvia is coming off of a loss to Randy Couture and he too will be looking to take advantage of his experience on the octagon to take him back to the chase for the gold. His MMA record is at 25-3 and he has won those twenty plus fights with his powerful punches and good takedown defense. Either way, the fight between these two fighters can be considered as a war and sports fans can avail of free betting at Apuestas to take side on this UFC card.
