The television is one of the most popular inventions of all time. Ever since it was introduced into the world, it has been an item that people crave regularly. Television has been one of the most progressive inventions ever since its original introduction. Today, HDTVs are becoming more popular throughout the United States, Japan, and Australia.

So how is an HDTV different than a normal TV? Many people wonder this now that these kinds of televisions are becoming popular. In addition, what does LCD mean?

First, an HDTV is different from a standard television because of the resolution quality. An HDTV not only has higher resolution, but also has multi-channel audio and a wide screen 16:9 aspect ratio. This basically means that the television can produce sharper images with more accurate sound alignments. In order to demonstrate the difference in image quality, you must first understand that the images displayed on any television are made up in horizontal lines. These lines are continuously scanned which then forms an image. Older TVs will scan the lines one at a time. HDTVs scan them all at once which allows for a more accurate and colorful picture. A standard television has about 480 lines, and an HDTV can have around 1080 lines. That is quite the difference in resolution.

So what does LCD mean? LCD means liquid crystal display. These kinds of televisions are digital with a fixed pixel structure. LCDs use flat panels, which is what allows for a flat-screen. Each pixel in an LCD has three sub-pixels of red, green and blue. Each of these sub-pixels has small crystals that generate different levels in brightness. Using this technology allows for a brighter and clearer picture on a flat screen.

When you combine the power of high definition and liquid crystal display, or HD-LCD, you get a very brilliant projection system that almost makes you feel like you are there watching the program in real life. This kind of experience is not cheap. HD-LCD televisions are relatively expensive, but if you can afford one, they are worth every penny.

If you are trying to decide on which kind of television to purchase next, an HD-LCD television would be a great choice because of the ability they have to project clear, colorful pictures for a long period of time. Having this kind of projection system will allow you to experience television and movies like never before.
