"Everyone likes to have multiple things to choose from. The age of the internet has given rise to pages filled with several products people have that they can sort through in order to make their purchase. This system works because of the ability it gives a person to look over everything a company has before making their purchasing decisions. If this kind of system is working for your company, you might ask yourself if transferring this ability into a more tangible format is what will work to help continue to drive up sales. Catalog printing, which was once the only way for people to look over several products before the internet came, still stands as a tried and true method of selling products. Catalogs offer the same ability to take in several products as the internet, but by default comes with an ability to go places the internet never can. But let’s focus on the benefits of giving people the ability to look over a larger inventory of products at a time. The problem with actually going to a store is the fact that quite often you’re limited by what the store happens to have in stock, and what that particular store carries. I’ve been in the situation before of going into a store for something I know the store sells, only to find out that that particular store doesn’t carry it. There just isn’t enough of a demand in my area to justify having any in stock. A catalog doesn’t suffer the same problems. Because you’re ordering everything, you don’t have to worry about whether or not the product sells well in your area. You don’t have to worry about tracking down the right store to find out if your product is in stock. Plus, if the company did their catalog printing right, you have all of the proper information you need to make a more informed decision. At the store I don’t have as many details available about a product to easily look at when making my decision. A catalog allows me to know everything I need to know. Given that I have so many of their product ready and available for me to look over, I can get a better feel for exactly what I’m looking for. I’m also able to more easily see things I might not have ever considered buying before. I can’t tell how many times I’ve picked up a catalog looking for one thing only to be drawn in by another. But best of all is the fact that a catalog is delivered to my home, freeing me from having to go anywhere in order to look at it. Of course as mentioned earlier most of these benefits are shared with looking at a website online, but by focusing on only the internet you’re by default losing all of those people who don’t like to only shop online, or who don’t have a computer to begin with. I think you’ll find that crowd is a lot larger than you might expect. "
