The English Rugby Club, Wasps was established back in 1867 and they play their home games at Adam’s Park which is situated in High Wycombe in Buckinghamshire and boasts a capacity of 10,000. Their first home was situated in North London down Finchley Road which was a rented ground, in 1923 they then moved to their first permanent home in Sudbury in the county of Middlesex and finally went on to buy the ground. They actually started off their life as a football team back in the year 1866 and were known as Hampstead Football Club, until there was a major alteration that lead to the development of two entirely new clubs. These two clubs were Harlequin Football Club and The Wasps Football Club. Their name is quite unique because in the late 1800’s it was widespread to name football clubs after birds, animals and insects. However it wasn’t until 1999 when they finally became a professional Rugby Club and competed in the Rugby Union and altered their club logo to divide them from the amateur football club, Wasps F.C. You could say that they are most famous for their jersey colours that symbolises the clubs name. In the whole history of the London Wasps they have never altered their colours which to this day are still yellow and black for both the home and away kit, allowing them to out their image as a conformed and stable professional rugby team. They are one of the most successful Rugby teams in the history of the game gaining major honours in the English Premiership, the Powergen Cup and the Heineken Cup. They also have a plethora of English National players from past and present that have been heartening and constructive to the Wasps success, these comprise the likes of former captain and strength to the team Lawrence Dallaglio and present England stars such as Phil Vickery, Josh Lewsey and Paul Sackey. Recently they took the title of the Guinness A League, became English Champions and brought the Heineken Cup back to Adam’s Park. The strength they hold in their club and total self-belief can only mean that the Wasps Rugby team can only progress with every season.
