Apparently, it's not just Hollywood teens that have been having trouble with the law of late. On Sunday, June 1, Rescue Me star and Dancing with the Stars alumna Tatum O'Neil was arrested by New York police for buying crack cocaine from a street vendor three blocks away from her Manhattan residence. Now O'Neil's battle with the controlled substance is not exactly a secret to the public. In fact, she wrote a memoir in 2004 called A Paper Life, where she painstakingly detailed her addiction to heroin and the subsequent custody battle with her ex-husband John McEnroe over their three kids.

According to reports, O'Neil initially said that she was doing "research" for a part she is playing, and then midway changed her story after the police found more damning evidence in her house. She reportedly thanked the police for "saving" her, as she had been clean for a long time and the Sunday bust was the first time she was relapsing. Not buying her alibi, O'Neil spent a night in jail and was released only the following day. She was then told to return on July 28.

O'Neil's stint on Dancing with the Stars was not as successful as her career as a child actress, where she won an Oscar at age 10 for her role in Paper Moon. On Dancing with the Stars, O'Neil, along with professional partner Nick Kosovich was eliminated in the second week for a boring rumba which got them a score of 17 out of 30, the lowest in the bunch.
