As a student of the University of Glasgow, you want to be as near to the campus as possible so that you don't have to spend too much time commuting to and from the campus. So ideally, your accommodation should be as near to the university as possible. Or better still, it should be situated right in the campus. These are student apartments located right in the educational institute. But saving time is just one of the most obvious benefit. There are other benefits that you should consider. For example, staying in a student apartment means that you will be sharing accommodation with your fellow school mates. And for some, that means a lot. Because being able to share accommodation with fellow students mean that there will be tons of opportunities for social interaction. You will be able to study together with friends, work together, share information about the school and the syllabus, and do many other things that would have been impossible should you stay alone. Or if you are the active type, you may want to participate in the many activities that are organized by the student body for the residents of the student apartment. These activities may come in the form of more active games like basketball, soccer of volleyball. Or they may come in the form of intellectual games like chess, board games and so on. All in all, the activities at student apartments will be more than enough to fill your time constructively. The student apartments are also well facilitated by a bus network. This network serves as the transport system for the students as Glasgow. So it will be very convenient, especially if you stay in campus, to attend lectures and tutorials. Due to this time savings, you will most certainly be able to get more done. Also, when you stay in student apartments, you get to make full use of the school facilities like the library, gym, and so on. But as perfect as it may all sound, not everyone can get accepted into the student apartments. Some applications will be rejected due to overwhelming demand. First year students and those who live far away from the school will usually get priority. The student apartments can accommodate over three thousand students, so there is still a pretty good chance of getting a place. But if you are one of the unfortunate ones who got rejected, fret not. Fortunately, surrounding the school campus is accommodation offered by private landlords. This is the next option to consider should your application get rejected. That's because in terms of proximity, it's your next best choice. Private accommodation that are meant for students usually cater to the needs of students very well. They are there specifically to serve the needs of students, so the landlords certainly understand the needs of the students better. But do remember that if you rent from a private landlord, you may have to pay utility bills. Also, be sure to choose an apartment that you feel comfortable in. In sum, you have two options: student apartments and private accommodation near the campus. For sure, your first choice will be the student apartments but just in case you get rejected, you still have private apartments to fall back on.
