You may have wanted to start a diet many times in the past,
only to shy away from it because of some of the things
you've heard or the self-doubt you have to succeed. There
are many myths about dieting, and hopefully, we'll dispel
them today!

It's been said that eating between meals will destroy your
chances of a successful diet. This is not true because you
should not starve yourself or else you will lose energy plus
possibly eat too much when it comes time to have a meal.
Satisfy your hunger but keep track of the calories.

Another myth we face in our quest for a slimmer waistline
is the one that tells us to only eat a certain type of food
all day, every day. Grapefruit, pepper- laden water, and
even hot dog diet fads have resulted in many binges over the
years. Following dangerous fad diets means your body's not
getting the necessary nutrients it needs to fight off
illnesses and stay healthy.

A diet should not be punishment and it is not true that you
have to stay exclusively on the foods your diet calls for.
You can indulge in a piece of cake or a slice of pizza every
now and then but all you have to do is watch the calories
and adjust for it with the rest of the food you eat that
day. Give yourself a break; have yourself a cookie or two.

Don't believe what you've heard when they say you cannot
eat before you go to bed. Dieting healthy means you are
watching your intake of calories and you are exercising
along with it. Eating before bed will not change that,
unless it's 5,000 calories; then you might have a problem.

Another diet misconception is that you can't eat between
meals; on the contrary; you should have sensible snacks
between meals. It's important to keep down those hunger
pangs with a healthy snack because if you don't, you might
over-eat during your meal and take in over the calories you
are allotted.

We all agree that dairy foods are high in fat and some
diets will tell you to not take in any dairy products at
all. Dairy is also essential for maintaining a healthy
body; you can't live without it, so to speak. Add dairy
products into your diet, using the low fat items, and count
them into your calorie allotment. Don't give up those
important vitamins your body needs.

Try not to fall victim to the myriad of diet myths
circulating the 'net. A healthy balance of proper eating
(most of the time) and exercise can work wonders for your
diet success!
