It has always been an issue on a show like America's Next Top Model. Being too skinny, after all, is a stereotype carelessly afforded to models. Apparently, this cycle's winner Whitney Thompson broke all stereotypes as the plus-sized model demolished all competition on Top Model, including and emphatically those who called her fat on the show. Yes, the cycle 10 winner has admitted that a competitor, Stacy Ann, called her "fat" while filming. Whitney likewise shared how being a plus-sized model in the company of rail-thin girls can get awkward. She cited a photo shoot when they handed her a size 2 skirt and said 'Put this on,' while the stylist cut and sewed it on. "It's embarrassing," she summed up. In the end, she became Top Model winner and defied competition. "I think the girls were a little jealous that they had to diet and they had to do this work to be super skinny, and I was like 'Well, I don't, and my pictures still came out better than yours,'" Whitney recalled. "I think it was difficult for them because the plus-sized models usually lose their confidence within the first week or two. I think they were like 'What? Well you're big!'" Whitney also shared that even before winning Top Model, she felt like she had already won as she was getting emails from young people worldwide telling her how they've gone through the same ordeal with her as an inspiration. She described it as "the best reward [she] could possibly have." Surely, this news is very welcome, as the fashion industry is notorious for pushing young girls to perilous eating disorders or unhealthy lifestyle just to conform with a distorted and biased standard of how one should look.
